Fixed Fee Divorce Lawyers

By selecting a fixed fee we guarantee that you will pay no more.  We offer 3 options

OPTION 1 - FULLY REPESENTED NON-CONTESTED DIVORCE (IF YOU ARE THE PETITIONER)

A non-contested divorce means you and your spouse have agreed to obtain a divorce and that the other party will not therefore contest the proceedings.
It also assumes that the court accepts the grounds for divorce set out in the Petition (which it usually does)

What work is included?

• Collecting all the relevant information from you at an initial appointment
• Corresponding on your behalf with the other party involved
• Preparation of all the relevant paperwork
• Lodging documents with the Court from issue through to Decree Absolute

Our costs

Our fees £700 + VAT
Court fees* £385
Total £1,225 (INCLUDING VAT)

* £340 to issue the Petition
* £45 for the Decree Absolute

You may also have to pay:

• Fee for obtaining marriage certificate - £7.50
• Fee for swearing affidavit - up to £9

Additional Costs

In some cases additional work can be required and we do charge extra for this.
Example – if we are unable to trace the other party or if we have to instruct a process server to serve papers personally on your spouse.
Any extra costs will be notified to you and agreed in advance.

Our fee is payable in 3 instalments:

1. £600 upon instructing us
2. £340 when we are ready to issue the Petition
3. £285 upon pronouncement of Decree Nisi

What work is not included?

Should the matter become more complex, eg. your spouse defends the Petition or cross petitions the rate will revert to our hourly rate.
The fixed fee does not cover any advice or proceedings relating to property, finances or children or a divorce where one or both of the parties live abroad. Any work we undertake in this respect will be charged at our usual hourly rate.
We will give you a clear estimate of the likely fees involved.

Is the other party liable to pay your costs?

Unless you have agreed this with your spouse, you can ask in the Divorce Petition for an Order that your spouse pays some or all of your divorce costs. If the Court makes such an Order then included within the fixed fee we will write an initial letter to your spouse to recover those fees. However, the fixed fee does not include any costs of enforcing the costs Order against your ex-spouse. This must be paid separately by you.
